Have you ever had the urge to start a vegetable yard in the fall time. It might sound a little bit contradicting to start something like that in the fall, however it sure is possible doing this without a greenhouse, unless you live in a very cold area.
Growing your own requires a little bit more attention than you probably realize and it's not a matter of throwing some seeds in a container and it will grow from there.
Preparing the site and/or containers might be a great deal of work or relatively easy if you have a plan in mind.
I do believe that everything what we do in life has to do with preparation to a certain degree in order to accomplish a successful result. In order to reach our successful result, we need to recognize the level of our satisfaction.
Anyway, no matter the type of soil we are going to use there is always space for improving the dirt one way or the other way.
We might take a soil test, included a private "science class" to convince our self that the soil, we purchased is having the ingredients to create productive vegetable plants or any plants in general.
If you purchase the soil from a local grower, you are most of the time safe and sure about the soil quality.
Soil is not a dead object, instead, it's well alive, it needs regular maintenance and care as soil changes all the time. Each soil type has pluses and minuses. Some of the soil can be very sandy and easy to work vs other soil that contain a lot of clay which makes it almost impossible to work or grow anything.
Sandy soil will not hold for a long time moisture and nutrients there for your plans might suffer more, than grow and be happy!
Going for a ready to go soil mixed with some peat moss, one scoop peat moss and 4 scoops soil, is a super great combination.
A little side step for the handy man who might create a lot of sawdust, this is a great mix for your soil as it creates air and ventilation. Taking another side step to our equestrian friends, their manure is top quality for every soil. A word of warning, never ever use too much, just a little bit can create wonders.
Soil needs it's ventilation so why should you go for plant containers, they do not provide you with the ventilation they promise they do. Have you ever had the incident that you simply had no time left over for a couple of days to water your pot plants and "OH KNOW" you faced some dead plants!
You remove the plants from its container and surprisingly you encounter the soil to be pretty wet.
How come? You had no time to water it for some days! The answer is "no ventilation!"
Ventilation and protection very often goes together it's a super combination for any plant container. A container that is flexible, you can fold or roll up and store it if needed and last for many years!
It's a must that your plant container provides the soil with a 80% UV radiation protection, and ventilation. The container easy to hose off, and can not break down into a thousand pieces.
The soil received all the protection it needs in order to develop into a powerful, rich feeding material for your plants that will not drawn in water!
