Keeping Your Lawn And Garden Beautiful - Mole Control

Sam Robbins has been spending more and more time in his beautiful yard, admiring the incredible work of his landscape professional and the newly decorated patio. Then one morning, he went out to water the flowering creations in large pots on his patio when he noticed an unusual development throughout his lawn. It had just been mowed the day before by the lawn care specialist, using a huge push mower, so Sam instantly suspected that had damaged his lawn. He saw random lines across his yard, sometimes intersecting, sometimes disappearing under flower beds and fence lines. Those lines were eruptions where the grass had been burrowed under and the turf separated from the soil under it. There were also random holes that hadn't been there before.
Sam's beautiful lawn and garden had been damaged to the extent that it was unsightly and perhaps even the disturbed grass could die. Sam was upset but determined to find out what caused the eruptions. He walked around stomping the sod back down so all was level and filled the holes he could find throughout his lawn and into his flower garden. Then he called his lawn care expert.
Sam, you have Moles! They can be eradicated. Let me tell you how:
USING MOLE BAIT:
The best bait mimics the Mole's primary food source, earthworms, and grubs. The worm-like bodies contain a lethal dose of Bromethalin that is immediately attractive and appetizing to the Mole due to its high energy demands. Lay the bait in the runway systems created by the burrowing rodent by carefully removing the soil where the runways cross. Drop the bait in the hole created and loosely recover with soil. You can run a test to verify the Mole is still in residence and the runways are still active by putting bait at a test site first. If the bait is taken with 24 hours, the full bait treatment can be deployed. This bait works quickly, in approximately twenty-four hours.
USING MOLE TRAPS;
Trapping is most successfully accomplished during spring and fall as the tunnels are deeper in summer and winter. Since breeding generally happens between February and June, trapping in late April through May could net a pregnant female, thereby removing multiple rodents from the population. There are a number of traps on the market, so read and follow the manufacturer's instructions. The best trap will have a colored top that can be depressed with a foot, once placed in the runway, and which will pop up when the trap is sprung and the mole captured.
USING LIQUID REPELLENTS;
Many feel that liquid repellents are the best remedy for lawns and gardens crisscrossed by numerous runways made by what would appear to be multiple Moles. When following the manufacturer's instructions, it is possible to eradicate the entire population in backyards, front yards, side yards, and gardens in only one or two applications. This can be done by professionals or the homeowner, using a common garden sprayer.
Creating a beautiful lawn and garden and a comfortable, attractive patio adds value to your home. These things also make your home a great place to entertain and may entice your children to spend more time at home with family and friends.
